Western Sword Fern (Polystichum munitum)
Generally large fern, perennial, rhizomatous; has reddish brown scales
Leaves:   Leathery, upright leaves, lance-shaped, wider in middle than at either end; serrated edge
Spores:   In rows under leaf
Habitat:   Moist areas, along streams, under conifers or on open hillsides
Range:    Can be found in Washington, Oregon, Idaho (See on Moscow Mountain)

May be used in landscaping if given room to spread and moist conditions
