Giant-seed Macrocarpum or Large-fruited biscuitroot (Lomatium macrocarpum)
Perennial, grows low to the ground, spreading; long taproot
Leaves:   Short stem (1-6"), pinnately divided leaves (3 times), gray green in color, hairy
Flowers: It typically has clusters of white or cream colored flowers, umbel form,
blooms in early spring (April on this trip).
Habitat:   It grows on rocky areas.
Range:    Washington, Oregon, Idaho
Food:    Native Americans and early settlers used the starchy taproot as food.
